Spring Soccer

Here we go again!! Last Saturday was Jacob's first soccer game of the spring season. He Did great!! We thought maybe his timid self would re-emerge after not having seen his teammates since the end of the fall season, but he was not as shy this time around.

One of the things that we have been working with Jacob on is getting him to pay attention to the ball and what is happening around him. He is usually the last one to chase the ball because he is either biting his fingernails or waiving at me. We were pleased with the progress he has made so far.

And, instead of waiting until the last game of the season to score a goal (like he did in the fall), he scored one in the first game!! Yeah!

Visiting Baby Alexeigh

Curt's cousin Beckie who happens to be one of my best friends gave birth to a beautiful (and dainty) little girl last month. A couple of weeks ago the boys and I were able to go to Aunt Carol's (Beckie's Mom's) house to see her (we saw all of them, but lets face it, we really went for Alexeigh). She was just as beautiful as I had imagined and such a little peanut. I am still a little perturbed over the fact that she weighed 3lbs. less that both of my boys. How is that fair?? But, I digress. She is a real beauty and the boys took to her right away. This doesn't surprise me much because they love babies in general. But she is a girl so I am sure that helped with their instant devotion.

This is Ethan shortly after we got there. I was holding her first, but he said my time was up and it was his turn. Who can argue with that cuteness??

This is Jacob having his turn. He was a bit on the "sweaty boy" side of life since he had been playing with his cousin Christopher (Alexeigh's brother) and they were doing an awful lot of running. I didn't think he would take the time to sit and hold her, but like I said, they have a thing for babies.

Finally it was my turn again. Isn't she just the most precious thing. I just want to send another Thank you to Aunt Carol for having us over and feeding us such a wonderful lunch and for also letting us Ooh and Aah over the little one. It was very generous for you to share her with us for so long!! Oh, and Thank you to Beckie for sharing her too!!

What Are They Doing??

So I came out to the living room one morning and this is what I found.

It looks like they might be up to something doesn't it?? They were being awfully quiet. I was getting a little nervous.

But when I walked around to see what they were up to, they were just looking at a book. I love it when they have those sweet, let's share, brother moments. I don't think I could ever get tired of witnessing those moments.

Let's Party!!!

Sunday April 6th Jacob turned 6 years old. He was very excited about this birthday, more so that any of the others. His birthday celebration was quite long, lasting for a couple of weeks it seemed. First, he took cupcakes to school the day before spring break started because his birthday was during the week he wouldn't be at school.

During our family Easter get together we had cake and some presents with Papa and Nana, Uncle Mickey and Aunt Chris, Michael, Cameron, Aunt Tina and Uncle Kevin, Andrew and Samantha. He got "The Night at the Museum" movie which is really funny and some drawing stuff. He also got some money that he has tucked into his money pocket (a wallet to the rest of us) that he is saving for our big trip this summer. We also got to play with Uncle Mickey and Aunt Chris's Wii and it was fun!! Jacob did really good with the bowling game. I played against Ethan and won by just a hair.

During spring break we had a birthday dinner with Papa and Nana, Grandpa and Grandma and Grandma Mary at Applebee's in Lansing. After a good dinner we went across the street and enjoyed a couple of hours at Chuck E. Cheese's. The boys both had a good time, but I really think that Curt was a little too competetive with the racing games.

The last part of Jacob's celebration was actually on his birthday. We went to the Parlour in Jackson after church with our friends, Chad, Rachel, Faith, Grace and Hope Green and Brad and Rachel Hunt. That particular morning we discovered that Jacob has his first loose teeth. He complained of them hurting when Curt was brushing his teeth. He was very excited about this discovery. As of now they barely move, but that doesn't matter to Jacob. He thinks it is very cool that his first loose teeth arrived on his birthday!!

Meet Stanley...

...Flat Stanley. According to Jacob, Flat Stanley is a child that was trapped under a fallen white board. That is what made him flat. Mrs. Brail, Jacob's teacher, sent Flat Stanley home with her students with hopes that Flat Stanley could learn how to function in this world of ours now that he is, well, flat.

Jacob thought it would be great fun to build a zoo with Flat Stanley. They did a great job and Stanley was even able to get into the zoo. That is something that Jacob can't do. He has to stay outside the walls and look in. Way to go Stanley!!

Jacob also thought that Stanley might enjoy reading some stories. So that's what they did. It was great having Stanley for a visit. He is a quiet and easy to please child. Jacob seemed to take a real liking to him. Maybe he'll visit us again someday.

Pizza Baker

Saturday evenings are pizza evenings. Since Curt and I are working really hard at saving money we have been making our pizza. Now, I am not so good that I make our own dough or anything (I buy the ready made crusts) but we do get to slather on our own sauce and toppings. The boys love to help, but mostly Ethan.

He always wants to be the Pizza Baker. It is awfully cute to watch him put the pepperoni on the pizza in a perfect circle making sure that just the edges touch.

Have you seen a cuter baker??

My Funny Bone

Last month Curt and I went to see a comedy show with Brad and Rachel. The show was held at a Woodside Bible Church in Troy Michigan. When we got there it was already packed and there were no available seats. We ended up sitting on the steps, but it was so worth a little bit of discomfort.

This is Rachel and I before the show started.

This is comedian Tom Ryan. He was the opening act and he was hysterical. My stomach and my cheeks hurt when he was done with his routine. I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard. I was worried that I would be disappointed by Tim when he came on because this guy was so funny.

I need not to have worried. Tim was even funnier. I laughed so hard that I ended up with heart burn. My eyes were tearing and I thought I would expire right then. If you have never heard of Tim Hawkins or seen his stuff, you can go to http://timhawkins.net/ and watch some clips. He is funny on video, but you definately need to see him live if you get the opportunity.

I've Been Tagged.....

by http://fiveofgreen.blogspot.com/ .

The Rules of the Game:
1) Link to your tagger
2) Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some randon, some wierd
3) Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs
4) Let them know they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog

7 Facts about Me.....

1) I love cows. When I was a little girl we would get a cow to raise for a year and then it would become dinner. I have loved them ever since. Curt says we will never have a house that has a barn because he knows that I would put a cow (or two) in there.
2) I have broken both of my ankles almost exactly a year a part and of course it ruined both summers.
3) I got engaged to my husband when I was 17 and married when I was 19. We are going to be celebrating our 13th anniversary next month.
4) I am an only child with 2 fabulous step- sisters. I had the best of both worlds. They are both older than I am so they were out of the house and I didn't have to share, but I have all the love a houseful of girls can give.
5) My two best friends are named Rachel. It confuses my husband endlessly because he never knows which one I am talking about. My boys however just seem to know.
6) In college I majored in social studies and minored in environmental science. Just saying it makes me feel a little geeky. But, I can tell you for a fact that bird poo does not harbor bacteria, just in case you get into a sticky situation.
7) I enjoy Nascar. I don't just watch it when the hubby does, I watch it when I'm all alone. GO JIMMIE!!!!!

Who am I going to tag?? Well, most of my blogger friends have already done this so I am going to pick a sweet girl that goes to my church. I checked and she hasn't done this yet!!
