even though I haven't actually gone anywhere but some of my bloggy friends have gone to India with Compassion and have been sharing what they have seen and done, along with some stories of the people they have met and some funny stories about each other. I have been reading them voraciously these last few days.
I must tell you that when people ask me for money I am often very sceptical. I assume they are trying to pull the wool over my eyes and that the little bit of money they are asking for really isn't going to do anything more than line someone else's pocket.
The thing about Compassion is they are sending real people into places they touch. And these real people are able to share their first hand experiences with us, right now, while they live it. They are able to show us what Compassion is doing with the money that is sent. Sometimes this whole Internet/Blog/Twitter extravaganza amazes me.
I have cried and laughed and cried and cried some more. And then I got all crazy and sponsored a child... a little girl (because I am outnumbered here by boys). Her name is Vaishali and she is 8 years old. In just a few weeks I'll have a picture of her to show you, but know this; her life and that of her family will be changed. She will learn about Jesus and His sacrifice, she will hear the gospel. She will go to school and have opportunities that so many don't. And she will know that in a far away place she has a whole other family that loves her.
I'm not going to ask you to sponsor a child, just check out the blogs I've listed below and see what is going on... I bet you'll cry, and laugh, and cry some more.
