I'm Here, I'm Alive...

I have just been taking a bit of a break from the great wide bloggy world. I think it has something to do with not knowing what to blog about that you would all like to hear so I just don't say anything... anyway, I've had some goings-on and I'm going to share them... not all today and not in order (oh dear me.... non-chronological blogging... I never thought I'd do it...)

I just wanted to point out two new buttons on my sidebar. The first is a bloggy carnival that I am excited about doing... the posting of baby pictures of ourselves. I have some great baby pictures and I can't wait to share them... I may even share some of Curt because I have some of him that are just too funny not to share.... The second button is a "Praying for Stellan" button. You can hop on over to MckMama's blog if you would like one too...

Now, on to today... Jacob has been asking for something that is completely out of his character for the last couple of months. We were going to make him wait until summer, but Jacob is such a good boy and hasn't been begging although the desire for it hadn't seemed to diminish.

On our way to the barber shop today he asked one more time and said he would really like it for his birthday (his 7th is only 8 days away). Curt and I looked at each other and gave a little nod at the same time and agreed that today was the day.

Jacob took a huge step out of his little box and did something so completely out of character. I almost cried. He was being independent and sharing a part of his character with the world that he usually saves just for his family. So, here are a few pictures of the process... the grandparents are still adjusting... even the one who fascillitated it. Thank you Gary, he hasn't stopped beaming that smile all day!

This is before... can you see the excitement on that face?

This is during...

Here he is with his very own Mohawk...

He has gone into the bathroom several times just to look at it and we had to stop by to show all the grandparents before we came home. He is very happy and truth be told, so am I, not so much about the mohawk itself, it's just a haircut, but about what it represents for my little, overly timid, and rather shy, first born. He is doing what I have encouraged him to do countless times... He's being brave and he's being bold and he's being himself... Jacob, you rock!

It Just Doesn't Get Old...

I found out earlier today that I am going to be an Aunt again... Congratulations to my brother-in-law Bret and my sister-n-law Janice. This Auntie is very happy!

By the way, I found out from my niece Anna's blog... she was very clever!

Well Hello There Mrs. Swarzenegger....

I am still doing the ChaLean Extreme workouts. I have to say that I am a bit amazed at the changes I have seen in my body in such a short time...not to mention the fact that I am not the best at following fitness programs... I tend to get a little overwhelmed by the commitment and underwhelmed by the amount of chocolate I'm allowed to eat. It's generally not a recipe I am willing to stick to, but this is good and I like it.

I have been doing the three weight workouts every week but not doing so good on the cardio. This week I'm going to throw in a little Turbo Jam just because I've been missing it. I haven't lost pounds, but my body fat has gone down a whole percent and I can actually see some muscle tone... even hubby has witnessed that phenomenon and has taken to calling me Mrs. Schwarzenegger...

I don't know about that, but the jeans that I'm wearing are a size that I haven't been in since I was a sophmore in highschool. And let's just get it out there... I haven't been in high school in a very long time.

Spring Sing...

Jacob had his First Grade Spring performance Monday night.

Just before I took him back to the room where his class was meeting he looked at me like a deer caught in the headlights and said, "Mom, I feel like I'm going to be sick nervous". And the ever doting mom that I am said, "Be Brave, Be Bold" and then promptly left him in the make-up room so I could get a good seat in the middle. Priorities...

Here is a little video action...

And some still acion...

He obviously got over the whole deer in the headlights look... and had fun!

Just Another Day in Bloggy Paradise...

I loved the Year of the Scarf Blog Carnival that Rachel hosted yesterday. It was the first blog carnival that I've participated in and my first video blog and I thought both were fun.

Speaking of the whole video blog. You all are so stinkin' sweet with your comments. I said that I think I look and act like a dork and you slathered me with cute comments. Thank you.

I am totally into embracing who I am this year, even if it includes a whole lotta quirky.

Just as a little side note... my mom laughed so hard while watching it that she almost fell out of the chair and then told me I reminded her of Gladys... Oh goodness.

It's Time to Break Out the Scarf!

Hello Scarf Lovers... Today is the day of Rachel's 2009 Year of the Scarf Bloggy Carnival! I made a little video post to go with today's carnival, but before you watch it, I have a few things to say...
  • I am a dork. I already knew this and had actually accepted it, but seeing myself on video has shown me a whole new level of dorkiness... I should have known... I do wear a plastic tiara every morning when I take my son to school. That should have been enough of a clue.
  • I did not forget the name of Rachel's blog... although it may actually appear that way. I am one of those people that has to say the whole set of Social Security numbers just to get to the last four. I had to say her old blog name in my head to get to the new one... I really did not forget. I promise.
  • Huge shout out to Angie for declaring 2009 the year of the scarf and to Big Mama for all the scarf tying tips... without you two ladies, I would not be so scarf savvy... and when you witness the dorkiness in the video, you will realize that I need all the savviness I can get!
  • Thank you to hubby who was a wonderful camera operator. He didn't even laugh at me. He is, apparently, already used to the level of dorkiness that I am now coming to terms with.
